 How I Found Him

Of course I did what seemed like endless searching for my new companion, but I never gave up. I went to the local flea market; local pet stores, and looked in the classifieds for Chihuahua puppies for sale. I am so happy that I did, because I never would've found my little boy.  After continuous searching and calling, I finally called this breeder in Hillsborough. I had no idea that Hillsborough was a 45 min drive from my location, but even though it was 8' o clock at night, I wanted to make sure I got him. They told me he was the last one they had left. So, my journey began to a new place to me just to pick up my new 4-legged companion.

The Moment I Saw Him

The whole drive there, I kept on thinking that the reason he was the last one left, was because he was ugly, and BOY was I wrong. I walked in and saw him in one of the breeder’s hands, my heart fell and I almost cried. I took him in my arms and could not let him go. Even to sign the papers. Knowing that this might happen, I brought my neighbor along for the ride. Needless to say, she drove home while I held my newfound friend in my arms.

How He Got His Name

There was a while a few years ago that I was really lonely but I knew I couldn't be with anyone. I grew so lonely that I watched the movie Titanic every night before I went to bed for about 3 months, pretending that my love- life was the one of Jack and Rose. When it came to name him, I didn't want to give him any old name. I wanted his name to be unique, not Chalupa , Paco, Spike or Butch. So, I named him after a snobby rich guy from Titanic. I named him after the actor Billy Zane's character, Caledon Hawkley. Throughout the whole movie he is only referred to as Caledon Hawkly in the beginning of the movie. The duration of the film he is referred to as "Cal". Well, there you have it. I chose the name of a snobby rich guy for my dog because I hope that is as close as I get to one.
